RULES

Welcome to UNIQUE - Dance Icon, where passion meets the stage and dreams come to life through the art of dance. We are a team of dedicated dance enthusiasts who share a collective dream: to provide an exceptional platform for budding talents to showcase their skills, harness their creativity, and flourish as performers

DATE & VENUE

  • Date: January 12th, 2025

  • Venue: Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N Charles St, Lewisville, TX 75057

  • Participating dancers do not need a ticket to enter the venue. 

  • Audience Tickets will go on Sale on December 1st 2024.

General Rules:

Eligibility:

  • The competition is open to all dancers in the DFW area.

  • Participants must be in one of the following divisions:

    • Juniors: 12 years of age or younger

    • Seniors: 13 years of age or older

Registration:

  • All participants must register by November 30th 2024.

  • Late registrations will not be accepted.

Fees:

  • Solo Dancers: $50 registration fee

  • Group Dancers: $35 per participant registration fee

  • Fees must be paid to become a valid submission. Please call 832 807 3936 for any questions.

Performance Categories

Juniors:

  • Explanation: This category is for dancers aged 13 years or younger. All dance styles will perform in the same category.

Subcategories:

  • Solo

  • Group (up to 15 members)

Seniors:

  • Explanation: This category is for dancers aged 13 years or older.All dance styles will perform in the same category.

​Subcategories:

  • Solo

  • Group (up to 15 members)

Performance Duration:

  • Classical - Solo: 8 minutes

  • Classical - Group: 8 minutes

  • Non Classical - Solo: 4 minutes

  • Non Classical - Group: 4 minutes

  • Longer audio files may get disqualified or face points deduction penalties

Music Submission:

  • Film songs are allowed for Classical & Non Classical submissions.

  • All participants must submit their performance music to entertainment@vishrum.com by December 28th, 2025.

  • Please include the participant's name and category in the email subject.

Judging Criteria:

  • Creativity and Artistry (25%):

Originality and creativity in choreography

Expression and emotion conveyed through the performance

  • Technique and Skill (25%):

Execution of dance moves and techniques

Precision and control

​

  • Stage Presence (25%):

Confidence and charisma on stage

Connection with the audience

​

  • Costume and Presentation (25%):

Appropriate and well-presented costumes

Overall visual appeal

Code of Conduct:

  • Respect:

Treat fellow participants, judges, and staff with respect and courtesy.

  • Sportsmanship:

Display good sportsmanship at all times, win or lose.

​

  • Attire:

Wear appropriate dance attire during performances.

​

  • Timeliness:

Arrive at the venue on time for registration and performances.

Awards:

  • Trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category.

  • Cash Prize: $500 will be awarded to the 1st place winners in each category.

  • Note: Judges' decisions are final.

  • By participating in UNIQUE - Dance Icon, you agree to abide by the rules and regulations outlined above.

  • We wish all participants the best of luck and hope you have a fantastic experience at the competition!

Waivers

By entering the competition, you are acknowledging and accepting the following waivers

Health Waiver

I, understand that my participation in the UNIQUE - Dance Icon involves physical activity that may pose some risk to my health. By participating in this event, I acknowledge and agree to the following:

  1. I am aware of the physical demands of dance and believe that I am physically and mentally able to participate in the competition.

  2. I understand that it is my responsibility to consult with a physician before participating to ensure that I am in good health and capable of participating in the dance competition.

  3. I assume all risks associated with my participation in the UNIQUE - Dance Icon , including but not limited to injuries that may occur as a result of my participation.

  4. I release and discharge the organizers, judges, volunteers, and any affiliated individuals or entities from any liability, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action that may arise out of my participation in the competition.

  5. In the event of an injury or medical emergency, I authorize the competition organizers to seek and consent to medical treatment on my behalf.

I have read and understand the terms of this Health Waiver and voluntarily agree to its content.

Camera

Media Release

I, grant permission to UNIQUE - Dance Icon and its authorized representatives to take photographs, videos, or other images of me during the competition. I understand that these images may be used for promotional, marketing, and educational purposes, including but not limited to:

  1. Promotion of the UNIQUE - Dance Icon on the competition's website, social media, and other promotional materials.

  2. Coverage by news outlets, both print and digital.

  3. Educational and archival purposes related to dance and the competition.

I waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product, including written or electronic copy, wherein my likeness appears.

I have read and understand the terms of this Media Release and voluntarily agree to its content.

Disclaimer

I, acknowledge that my participation in the UNIQUE - Dance Icon is voluntary, and I assume all risks associated with my participation, including but not limited to personal injury or property damage.

I understand and agree that:

  1. The organizers and judges of the competition are not responsible for any personal injury or property damage that may occur during the event.

  2. The organizers reserve the right to modify the competition format, schedule, or rules at their discretion.

  3. The judges' decisions are final, and there will be no appeals.

  4. The organizers are not responsible for lost or stolen personal items.
